of MMG and what it stands for in the existing, new and
developing markets.

firm. It has no ambition to become big. However, its ambition
is to be ranked with the best in the world. Please click on

-
To
delight the clients by providing the right advice,
the right information and at the right time.
-
Recognize
and respect the fundamental rights of people to have
their own views and opinions
-
Do
not act like a Mercenary, Messiah or Dependency
Builder in the words of Mr. Ron Carucci and Ms. Toby
Tatenbaum in their book "Value Creating
Consultant" published by AMACOM, New York, USA.
-
Create
something of value. Money is the by-product of your
efforts, sincerity and hard work. If you look only
for money, then be prepared to fail.
-
Fairness,
Honesty, Sincerity, Openness and Transparency in all
business and personal dealings.
-
Never
compromise on Integrity, Principles, Values
and Ethics.
-
One
cannot demand respect. Command respect by your
actions, deeds and words. Respect is given
grudgingly by most people. It does not matter how
you get it, but get it you must.
-
A
good and self respecting management consultant is not a 'rubber stamp'
or a 'yes man' or a 'dummy'. Make it very clear in
the beginning itself. It will save you a lot of
grief and misunderstandings later.
-
A
good management consultant is a change agent and a
leader of men and women. Should evoke awe and not
fear in the words of the great Chinese philosopher,
Confucius.
-
There
are three known instances when people call for the help
of Management Consultants.
-
The first is when they do
not know what to do ? In that case it is fairly
simple. You show them what and how to do.
-
The second
case is when they are in trouble. In that case make
it very clear to them that you are not a magician
who can make the problems and troubles disappear
overnight. The process of cure and recovery takes
its own time and with the right actions. To some
extent, it can be accelerated by a change agent.
This needs the understanding and cooperation of all
concerned at the client's end.
-
The
third case is when they need a third party
authentication of their actions and decisions. In
that case, give a true, fair and unbiased assessment
of the situation.

Business
Philosophy & Policies
|
-
Help
clients create a business process to manage and
thrive on change
-
Look
at all problems holistically, always with an open
mind and suggest most probable or most likely or
most suitable solutions. Remember Aristotle's famous
saying: "Probable impossibilities are to be
preferred to improbable possibilities"
-
Develop
systematic team work and at the same time retain
your independent outsider identity. Do
not get dragged into politics,
controversies or bickering at the client's end. Do not
fish in troubled waters. However, do not maintain
neutrality in the face of grave moral crisis and
make your views and opinions well known
-
Make
things happen. Do not wait for things to happen from
the client's side. Very few understand as to why the
management consultants are brought in. Make your job
purpose very clear to all, remove fear psychosis and scotch all
rumors
-
If
you are good, you need not worry about good
references because any excessive criticism is an
indirect praise. It will be foolish to expect
everyone to appreciate you because you are not in
show business or in popularity contest
-
Assist
developing long term solutions
-
Focus
always on people by supporting and developing them
-
Strive
for excellence through speed, innovation, leadership
and team work
-
Build
relationships based on mutual respect and trust
-
Look
for win/win situations for all stakeholders
-
The
client is always in a more powerful position to
decide in your favor or not. Negotiation is always
possible, between unequal parties, in terms of size,
as long as the need exists and you can satisfy the
need
-
The
client, whether small, medium or big, should know
that they are dealing with world class professionals and
should never allow them to insult your
intelligence, knowledge, talents and skills. At the same
time, never ever insult a client's intelligence,
knowledge, talents and skills. The client will always have
in-depth knowledge of his own industry, which you
might not be familiar with, but will not have the
width and depth of knowledge you possess of various
industries. The very fact that you do not have much
knowledge of the client's business is in your favor
because you will not have any bias, blind spots,
phobias and prejudices
-
Do
not allow any potential client to go on a fishing expedition.
They are dealing with professionals ranked with the
best in the world
-
Provide
the best customer value proposition at all times
-
Add
and create value to a client's business
-
You
cannot satisfy everybody. When you try to satisfy
everybody, you end up satisfying nobody
-
Never
take up an assignment without a specific terms of
reference (ToR) or a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU)
-
It
is good to be diplomatic in our profession. However,
do not take an ambiguous or a vague stand under the guise
of diplomacy
-
As
corporate doctors, it is our duty to give the true
picture and correct recommendations to our clients.
We will be doing disservice to our clients, if we do
not do so and should not be mistaken for stating the
truth. Good medicines are always bitter
-
Keep
the ethical and operating standards very high all
the time and beyond reproach
-
Integrity
and Commitment are more important than money
-
To
be viewed as one of the best people to deal with in
the world in our areas of competence

Why MMG
?
|
|
We would like to quote the great
Mr. Robert Townsend from the book "Further up the
organization" on his observation on "Management
Consultants" and the same is reproduced in italics below:
"The effective ones
are the one-man shows. The institutional ones are disastrous.
They waste time, cost money, demoralize and distract your best
people and don't solve any problems. They are the people who
borrow your watch to tell you what time it is and walk away
with it ........... " --- Published by Michael Joseph,
London, UK, 1984, Page Number 128
It would be impolite of us to
publish the entire extract in our pages but those interested
can refer to the book.
Why organizations, in
businesses as diversified as light & heavy engineering,
manufacturing, contracting, project management, trading,
logistics, educational institutions, freight handling, IT
services, travel services, insurance, real estate, banking,
retailing, consulting, thermal engineering, power plants,
broadcasting, fast moving consumer products and leather
tanning when in need
to consult, train, recruit and assess their staff, choose a
small management consultancy firm like MMG? The reason is, MMG
provides Total Management Consultancy services covering all
aspects of corporate management - excluding Finance, providing
maximum value for money spent by the client. Building
